Bowls are made from Teak wood. Serving bowls are about
6 inch diameter
and about 3.5 inches tall. The main salad bowl is 10.5 inch
diameter and
about 8inches tall. Finished using Behlen's
Salad Bowl Finish.
A set usually only has 4 serving bowls, but I decided
to make 6
for the times that company is over during a holiday.
right photo shows the scroll sawn art work at the tips of
the spoons.
The spoons were initially cut with a band saw. The bowls
shown below are essentially the same except for only having
a 4 serving bowl set.

Both of these dishes were made of Redheart
wood and I placed an old red glass dish in each to allow
an accent. The dish on the right I inlayed a veneer ring
around the bottom of the lid. This broke up the difference
of grain between the lid and the bow since they were not
cut from the same block of wood. The bowl on the left was
made with a smaller lid grasp, no inlay around the lid,
and gave a slight different curvature of the lid and bowl.
Both bowls were finished using poly finish for the hardness
when the glass dish was set within.

This candy dish is made from Teak. The base was made
separately of the top
and then glued on. I drew a pattern and taped it around
the top and then used a
1/2 inch sanding drum placed in a drill press and sanded
to the lines on the
paper pattern.
This coffee mug was turned on the lathe and the handle was
scroll sawed and glued on. The wood is a fallen Silver Maple
tree from my back yard that had been riddled with ants and
beetles and rain water finally entered the wood. The letters
are Walnut Veneer cut on the scroll saw between two waste
pieces. The letters were stained with Ebony stain. The mug
stands about 6 inches high and about 3 1/2 inches in diameter.
The finish on the mug is SystemThree T-88 Structural Epoxy
Adhesive. It was spread over in thin coats and then sanded
and polished. The mug was made for a customer that owns
a Christmas tree farm.
